Nitrates in Water – Skin Problems
The water at the airbnb where I stay when I take a shower smells like a cardboard box. It is rather distinct smell. The property is not on city water, but rather has its own well. The owner claims the property has the same “quality” water as does the city, but that isn’t saying much. Since staying at the airbnb for 6 months, I’ve noticed red and brown spots appearing on my arms, shoulders, back and the sides of my face. Something is not right with the water. Thankfully, I buy bottled water and don’t drink it, but showering in the water is clearly causing me some skin damage.
I’ve earned a Master degree in Health, but have never seen, nor experienced such a thing before (and I’ve traveled to 90 nations and lived in the major continents along with within developing nations with far more worse water, or so I thought until I experienced this). If anyone knows more about nitrates in water and skin problems, please let me know.
The links below address a bit of the topic regarding nitrates in water, but say little about skin problems related thereto.

At the very least, I’m hoping my skin problems will go away once I move out of this place in 4 months time (after I finish my teaching contract here). Yet some skin problems, or irritations can be irreversible. I’m hoping with a change of geography, environment and water source, these skin problems will go away. God help me and anyone suffering similarly with such awful skin problems and irritations.
I welcome your emails should you know what makes water smell like cardboard and why I’m getting these spots (pink, light red as if the skin was burned away, and brown like old age spots) on my arms and some on my face.
